Management Policy Speciication
نویسنده
چکیده
Given the increasing size and complexity of distributed systems, there is a growing need for a policy speciication framework in which management policies for possibly automated managers can be expressed in a exible manner. The requirements and concepts for such a framework are examined, and particular reference is made to applications to the security of distributed systems. Relevant work is investigated, and conclusions are drawn. The outstanding research issues are identiied and a summary is given of the aim of future work.

Specifying and managing access control policies for large distributed systems is a non{ trivial task. Commonly, access control policies are speciied in natural language and later reformulated in terms of a particular access control mechanism. Management of policies is thus done in terms of low{level constructs rather than in terms of the speciication. This paper presents and discusses concepts ...

This case study concerns the speciication and validation of a Security Policy Model (SPM) for an electronic network. The network is intended to provide processing and transmission services for electronic messages, including sensitive and classiied material, over distributed sites and supporting multiple levels of security classiication. The SPM is formally speciied in VDM-SL and validated by sh...
